Newton By The Numbers
Written by: Bob Callaghan | March 08, 2018
The Construction of the new Berg Middle School building is well underway. Our subcontractors have been hard at work through the winter because of Hansen Construction's forethought and the decision to heat the interior. Concrete floors were poured in the building interior and the new gymnasium floor has recently been poured and is curing under the heated conditions. Framing of the classrooms on the east end (called Unit D) on both the first and second floor is near complete and the framing of the west end classrooms (called Unit C) is well underway. The steel erection for the commons and office is complete and a majority of the roof is in place. At the same time as the construction is underway, the Berg Middle School staff and students are in the process of picking furniture, fixtures, and equipment and the bids for our technology RFP (request for proposal) will be submitted in mid-March. The construction is exciting and progressing as planned. Our hope is to be in the building prior to Spring Break 2019.
